Delaney—Edwards House

Built in 1845, this historic farmhouse sits amid rolling hills in rural Turner, Oregon.  The wood-frame house features a hip-roofed wrap around porch and a bay window overlooking vineyards.  The house was almost lost due to zoning regulations designed to promote farming.  The area where the house originally sat is zoned for exclusive farm use.  Just one structure is allowed.  When the owners built a new house the historic Delaney-Edwards house was almost lost.  But thanks to C.R. OGILBY & CO. and an Oregon law that allows for new parcels to be created in an exclusive farm zone for a historic property, this 161 year house is getting a fresh start.  The house was moved from its original location to a new spot nearby.  The orientation of the house remains the same, and it is positioned on a rise so that the historic views are maintained.  It is currently undergoing a complete renovation to prepare for its perpetual use and enjoyment by future generations.
